American Music from A to Z

On site at your school! Integrating Music and Core Content

Dr. Diane Earle, Music Professor at Kentucky Wesleyan College and Education Consultant for the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, will present this hour-long interactive program geared to the specific group of students.  This is especially helpful for grades 5, 8, and 11.

She will present CORE CONTENT in a fun, educational program. This program will show how our American musical heritage evolved from Appalachian, Native American, and West African music. Dr. Earle will perform and discuss diverse American styles from jazz to classical, from blues to cowboy, ragtime to marches. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a rhythm band, compose a core content rap, and do movement activities in educational games and reinforcement of key elements in music testing. We’ll learn how all this core content impacts all of the music we love to listen to, and how our musical heritage is an important part of our lives!

For Registration, email Dr. Diane Earle or call her at (270) 852-3617. You’ll need to provide a piano for this presentation.  Only $3 per student—no busses needed!
