Youth Orchestra to Hold Open Auditions

OWENSBORO, KY – The Owensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra will hold open auditions for the 2016-2017 season on August 20, 2016 between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the Symphony Academy.

Auditions are for all orchestral instruments including flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, horn, trombone, tuba, percussion, violin, viola, cello, bass and piano.

The audition requires two contrasting studies or solos (4 minute maximum), two major scales of the student’s choice, one chromatic scale and sight-reading. Students can arrange an audition time between 12 p.m.and 4 p.m. by emailing the Owensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra conductor, Tom Stites at tom_stites@hotmail.com.

“Our goal is to involve motivated and talented high school students from across our region in performing quality literature. This season is particularly exciting with two performances at the RiverPark Center, our annual dinner concert and the invitation to perform a 30-minute program in Carnegie Hall in June of 2017.” said Owensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra conductor, Tom Stites.
