Owensboro, KY – November 23, 2020 – The Owensboro Symphony announces the world premier of “Safe at Home for the Holidays”. Due to the restrictions brought about by the pandemic the Symphony is unable to perform their annual Holiday concert on stage in the RiverPark Center for a live audience. In order to continue the rich tradition that so many families share with the Owensboro Symphony during the Holiday Season, the Symphony has taken the Holiday concert and packaged it into a holiday special that can be enjoyed from the safety of their homes.
This one-of-a-kind holiday celebration will feature Troy Quinn, the Owensboro Symphony, and special guest vocalist, Michael Preacely. The program will include selections from the Nutcracker, The Grinch, and more. The program will air on Saturday, December 12 at 7:00PM/CST. “We are excited to be able to bring the Symphony into your home and celebrate the most wonderful time of the year, even though we can’t be together in person.” said Troy Quinn, Music Director and Conductor.
“As we navigate these uncertain times, we have been tasked to become more innovative than ever,” said Gwyn Payne, CEO of the Owensboro Symphony. “We are thrilled to partner with KET to broadcast this program and are very fortunate to have the support of our sponsors and this community who share a strong passion for the arts.”
Funding for this program is made possible by Aleris with additional support from Riley and John Hess, Atmos Energy, Messenger-Inquirer, the City of Owensboro, Daviess County Fiscal Court, and the Kentucky Arts Council.
Safe at Home for the Holidays will be broadcast several times during the month of December on multiple platforms. The premier will be aired Saturday, December 12 at 7:00PM/CST on KET as well as WFIE streaming stations. The program will also be available on the Owensboro Symphony YouTube channel. Additional broadcasts of the program will air on KET on Sunday, December 20 at 12:30PM/CST and KET2 on Monday, December 21, at 6:30PM/CST.
