Academy Instructors

Adrienne Allen is a violinist in Owensboro, Kentucky with performance experience in solo, duo, and orchestra settings, as well as experience in teaching. She began playing the violin at four years old under the Suzuki violin instruction of Dr. Joan Mack. Since then, Adrienne has performed with the Owensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra, Back Alley Musicals, the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, church orchestras in Owensboro, Kentucky and Evansville, Indiana, and as part of a violin and piano duo, Strings & Ivory. She is also committed to playing violin on the worship team at Owensboro Christian Church.

Adrienne is a registered Suzuki teacher, trained through Suzuki Violin Book Four. She is continuing her training with Suzuki violin teacher trainer, Dr. Terry Durbin, at University of Louisville and will complete her Suzuki violin teacher training through the ten Suzuki Violin books in May 2018.

Adrienne looks forward to bringing the Suzuki Method to the Owensboro Symphony Academy and providing violin instruction that nurtures students to reach their fullest potential through a positive environment, parental involvement, ear training, and a precise selection of pieces that grows technique and ability in a sequential order for the most effective learning.


Sarah Beth Caudill is excited to be a piano teacher at the Owensboro Symphony Academy! She is currently pursuing a degree in Fine Arts, and is involved with the Kindermusik program at the Academy. Having taken piano lessons herself for nearly a decade, Sarah Beth loves teaching and sharing the gift of music with others. She currently has a studio at the Academy that ranges in ages from kindergarten to high school age students.


Jamie Lee Dixon is a vocalist, pianist, and horn player in Owensboro, Kentucky with over twenty years of experience in solo and accompanying settings. She also has experience in studio teaching and built and directed a homeschool music program that has served more than 175 kids in Indiana in over 7 years. She earned her BA in Voice and Piano minor at Bob Jones University, before continuing on to earn her MA in Secondary Education at Ball State University. Currently, she is working toward her Ed.S degree in School Administration.

Jamie holds many positions and memberships in various venues across Owensboro and Indiana, including the Owensboro Symphony Academy, Owensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra, Owensboro Symphony Chorus, Apollo High School, Davies County High School, South Spencer School Corp., Summer Institute for Young Artists, Kentucky Wesleyan College, Owensboro Community Band, Brass Quintet, Indiana Association of Christian Schools, National Federation of Music Teachers, and the American College of Musicians. Jamie is also the Owner of SDGMUSIK.


Cathy Mullins has been teaching beginning piano at the Owensboro Symphony Academy for over a decade.  Cathy currently has a piano studio of over 30 students with ages that range from 5 to 15 years old.  She also gives vocal lessons at the Academy to children and adult age students.  Cathy studied at Western Kentucky University where she completed her graduate program with a Master in Arts Education degree.



Carrie Olsen teaches cello at the Owensboro Symphony Academy.  Originally from Owensboro, Carrie attended Indiana University in Bloomington, IN where she remained for nearly 20 years working in the fields of music, literacy, and early childhood education.  In addition to cello, Carrie currently teaches the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra’s Strings Attached program in city and county public schools, beginning violin at the Boys & Girls Club, and serves as the music librarian for the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra.


Greg Olson, Double Bass – beginners through advanced. Students of any age.

Greg Olson has taught string music and double bass in this region since 1981. He was on the string faculty with Owensboro Public Schools, teaching beginners through high school until his retirement in 2014. At the collegiate level, he has has been an adjunct faculty member at various times at University of Evansville, Western Kentucky University, and Kentucky Wesleyan College, a position he holds currently.

An active performer, Mr. Olson is currently Principal Bassist with the Owensboro Symphony, Evansville Philharmonic, and Paducah Symphony Orchestras, and performs as a section player with Orchestra Kentucky Bowling Green.
